Grace’s studies include dual enrollment in home high school and community college courses, and upon graduation from high school, she will have already completed an Associates Degree.
One of the courses she insisted on taking was Public Speaking. She is fearless in her writing and her speaking, and readily sings and adresses groups in public, in church and school. We’ve (well, me, mostly) always encouraged her independence, and we have endeavored to help her understand how to do that without being confrontational or disrespectful. She has a sweet disposition, is almost always eager to laugh and talk with anyone, and she refuses to be pessimistic about the future.
Her Public Speaking Professor gave the class a prompt from which they must give a personal introduction: “Find something that happened on your birthdate and connect it to you.” Here she is, speaking for herself.
Wow, she’s quite impressive! Well done.
Did you have any resources/curriculum you can recommend?
In our homeschool we highly value public speaking, and also, debate, though it is undeveloped in my own life. I’m also emphasizing logic, and the ability to recognize and hopefully avoid logical fallacies.
